Henry then returns who decided to come back and make dinner for Mary and Dolores and to forget about his obnoxious behavior. Carl hasn't made it yet and Mary gets suspicious to where he is. But Dolores assure her that he will be there. He brings dinner home as the meal is a shocking surprise!

Mr. Sutherland comes along and recognizes the clothing he bought for his wife, and immediately comes to the conclusion that it is she in company with a strange man. He secures a revolver and follows them surreptitiously from place to place till he sees them go to a swell restaurant where they seat themselves at a table and order an extravagant dinner. His anger and jealousy are aroused beyond all endurance. He rushes headlong into the dining room, waving his revolver, demanding an explanation. When Agnes turns around and confronts him, he is so astounded at his horrible mistake and so paralyzed with chagrin he cannot explain himself; he is summarily kicked from the premises a sadder and a wiser man.

They fight and Eddie gets a pistol from "Big Joe," and makes his escape, closely pursued. When he arrives home he finds that his mother is barely alive, and in his excitement he overturns her bottle of medicine. He goes for more, but "Big Joe" and "Santa Fe" Willie are waiting outside for him. They detain him so long that when he returns his mother has only time to bid him goodbye. Helen Morgan is nursing her and the mother gives her son into Helen's care. Eddie decides to live "straight," and with the help of Helen he starts well on his way. Helen confesses that she has an illegitimate child. Eddie is at first astonished, but he later decides to give her a helping hand. Tom Morgan is the night watchman in a big bank. "Big Joe" and "Santa Fe" Willie learn that he has an invalid wife and so approach him with a proposition to help them in robbing the bank. However, when the time comes Morgan cannot make himself do this. Eddie decides to help him frustrate their plans. Meanwhile Morgan discovers that his daughter, Helen, is staying with Eddie. Helen and her baby return home, where they are joyfully received. The two crooks go ahead with their plans, Morgan apparently falling in with their ideas, but Eddie has arranged with the police to capture the two red-handed. Eddie is wounded in the fight which ensues and sends for Helen. She promises, if he recovers, she will marry him.
